# Who owns the custom tooling?

[All questions](https://syntaforge.com/en/knowledge/)

## The short answer

Tooling ownership, use, maintenance and transfer should be written into the commercial agreement. The asset list and payment milestones help make that arrangement clear.

## In more detail

The agreement can identify the molds, fixtures and other project assets, where they are kept and who may use them. Tooling responsibilities should be considered separately from ownership of product designs.

Maintenance, expected service life and transfer arrangements need their own terms. The website does not replace the agreement for a specific project.
